Little Celebrations with Eggs

Written by one of our little chicks!

The first egg that one of our chickens gave us was so small. My brother found it and we all ran to look at it. I was so excited! My dad stamped it with our coop stamp to make it special. Our first egg was perfection.

Now our chickens are laying a lot of eggs. We’ve gotten a dozen and half. We have some blue and brown ones, and white ones too. I love our chickens.

We used our local pottery painting store to find these egg holders. We all painted one, and now as we collect the eggs we bring them to our kitchen counter, put it in the special egg cup, and celebrate each one. I love the colorful eggs!

Fairy Eggs

Our 10 pullets arrived about 5 weeks ago. They are young hens, like teenagers. Everyday we’ve checked the coop for eggs. Finally, after waiting and waiting and checking and checking the coop, our first little fairies arrived. Each day we discover new beautiful eggs in the coop. We started with a teeny tiny white egg and now we have blue, light brown, and dark brown and even speckled brown. We take turns going to the coop to find an egg, and no matter who is doing the finding, the excitement of grabbing a little warm egg just delivered by a hen is magical.

Hello Homesteaders

Welcome to The Raspberry Ridge Farm Family Homestead Blog. We started this blog as something to do for our family during social distancing and isolation during COVID-19 Pandemic.

Our story begins with slowing down, chasing chickens and raising crops with kids.

We’ve dreamed about creating a farm, and having us home together during the Pandemic has pushed us to get it all going. It’s a silver lining out of this current moment in time.

We are new to this, so we are learning on the go through lots of books, magazines, and experiences.

We hope you find our blog entertaining, informing, interesting, and fun to peruse at your leisure. This is in no way shape or form advice, we are merely sharing for fun!

Thank you for taking a peak.

Our hope is to include photos and journal entries about our experiences on Raspberry Ridge Farm. Thank you!
